Very pleasant and good food. There was a gathering for the Hemophilia club so lots of people and very busy. There was a middle aged gentleman serving us, I believe his name was Conrad, he was attentive and on top of everything he made sure our drinks were filled and got things almost immediately when we asked even though he had about 15 people to serve at once, he was super friendly. Kudos to pleasant staff and environment and good food.
Great Amish style home cooking. Most people go for the broasted chicken but everything that you get will be wonderful. Be prepared for a wait on Friday and Saturday (closed Sunday and holidays). Also has a great breakfast buffet with their amazing long John donuts. And the pie! It is amazing. I love this restaurant and consider myself Lucky that I live close and get to eat here often.
Amish home cooking, buffet style. Always plan on having a wait as people drive from miles around to come eat at this great place. While you wait, walk through Carlisle Gifts and find something unique for your sweetheart or Grandma; with brands like Vera Bradley. Feel like taking a sweet treat home with you? Stop by Der Dutchman's bakery where you can get pies, bread, cookies, or incredible donuts! I recommend the fritters as they are huge! When you finally get to sit down, highly recommend the rolls as they are light and fluffy. Stick around for dessert, grab a piece of pie; preferably a cream version.
Very Disappointed!!! First Der Dutchman we went to was in Sarasota FL, and we are from Ohio, so we drove to Plain City super excited because Sarasota raised the bar very high. I hate to say but this place is a let down. The food wasn't that great, I was expecting the same items on the buffet like the sweet potatoes and turkey because they were amazing in Sarasota. Not on the buffet here. The potato salad was ground up instead of normal Amish potato salad. I felt like I was eating something ment for someone without teeth. We won't return here. Sarasota definitely took more pride in their service and the food. My husband and I will will wait until we are in Florida again to go to a really amazing Der Dutchman.
Food was bland, no different than any other buffet restaurant. Good price for the buffet is $13.00. The waitress was very attentive. Atmosphere was like being in a Retirement Village mix with the grand kids! They have a nice bakery of variety of goods to make you fat. There's a big gift shop as well.
